Clegg Hammers Hodes in New Web Video
Republican congressional candidate State Senator Bob Clegg took to his video camera and motorcycle to lambaste what he calls “wasteful spending by congressmen,” singling out Democratic Rep. Paul Hodes of the second congressional district for spending over $235,000 on franked mail.
The franking privilege allows members of Congress to mail official notices to constituents. Clegg has made liberal use of the privilege by sending out mailing that some say are overly political.
“With all the problems facing families in America today Paul Hodes thinks it’s okay to spend $235,000 of taxpayers money to send out something that talks all about Paul Hodes. Isn’t it time we had a congressman who works for us?” Clegg asks in the video just before stuffing a Hodes mailer in the trash.
The Hodes campaign did not have an immediate comment.
