Pawlenty lays NH groundwork with Tweets

The AP reported on the Primary Day arrival of six staffers from Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s Freedom First PAC in New Hampshire on Tuesday.
While the probable 2012 Presidential candidate is no stranger to the Granite State, this marks the first time he has sent members of his team to take the temperature of voters at the ground level. Dressed in matching polos, the group spent the day working their way across the state, hitting most key towns, helping local GOP groups get out the vote, and tweeting every minute of it.
The topics of their prolific twitter posts stayed largely non-political, ranging from updates on location, food, weather, and parking violations. Many tweets also included pictures.

Pawlenty has stayed neutral in the several hotly contested Republican primary campaigns in New Hampshire, so he doesn’t have much on the line, unlike fellow 2012 potential Sarah Palin. Instead “T-Paw’s” strategy throughout the primary seems aimed at garnering goodwill among grassroots party activists, with an eye to future volunteer recruitment. Sending a friendly, young band of ambassadors, and using social media to communicate is a good first step toward attracting enthusiastic young supporters in a key primary state.
