Shea-Porter says MoveOn.org support “helps us for sure”

New Hampshire’s embattled first district Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter will receive some assistance today from a controversial group that has compared President George W. Bush to Adolph Hitler and referred a U.S. Commander in Iraq as “General Betray Us.”

“It helps us for sure,” said Jamie Radice, a spokeswoman for Shea-Porter of the visible support being shown by MoveOn.org for Shea-Porter’s support for the U.S. House’s version of health reform.

MoveOn.org will hold a “Countdown to Change Rally” at noon on Thursday at Shea-Porter’s office in Dover to thank her for backing Nancy Pelosi’s health care bill.

In 2003 MoveOn.org posted the below video on its website. The commercial compares the President of the United States to Adolph Hitler:

The group also called Gen. David Petraeus “General Betray Us” in a full-page newspaper ad in the New York Times.

Shea-Porter’s office did not respond to our request for comment. But Republicans were not so reticent.

“Its disgraceful that Ms. Shea-Porter is working with a radical special interest group that has viciously attacked our Armed Forces on her latest staged campaign event,” said Republican Party spokesman Ryan Williams. “Her willingness to accept political support from far-left extremists shows that she is more concerned with salvaging her political career than she is about standing up for the men and women who are fighting overseas to protect our freedoms.”

The campaign of Frank Guinta, one of Shea-Porter’s Republican opponents also weighed-in.

“This demonstrates once again where Carol Shea-Porters support comes from and her loyalties lie–with liberals like moveon.org and Nancy Pelosi and not the people of NH who have soundly rejected this health care legislation,” said Guinta spokeswoman Alicia Preston. “[Pelosi’s health care] legislation will increase taxes, force people to switch doctors and create a dramatic increased cost burden for an already cash-strapped state budget. Carol Shea-Porter has earned the support of outrageous groups like moveon.org, and that should be very telling.”

“Ms. Shea-Porter’s actions confirm that she is out of touch with New Hampshire values and that she lacks the integrity First District residents expect from their Congresswoman,” concluded Williams.

I applaud Ms. Shea-Porter’s actions, I and many people I speak with Fully Support the Congresswomen’s action in this critical issue. If it wasn’t for Cable news (Fox and Rupert Murdoch, an Austrailian) we would be able to discern the real news and issues in the USA!
Americans shouldn’t be brainwashed by shouting, book publishing neo conservatives on TV- who are doing it to get RICH. Count the number of books they churn out.

remember when Move On was just against the wars?

Now it seems that they are for the wars now that the Democrats and President Obama embrace them and want to escalate in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The war was wrong then… and it is wrong now.

She is an embarrassment to the motto “live free or die” to think that the best we have to elect feel that the government will be better suited to provide healthcare decisions and insurance of the people, beyond any private efforts, and don’t give me this insured vs. uninsured bunk. People get healthcare in this country, despite health insurance. We need reform, but this is about government control and power, and not healthcare of it’s citizens. She must not serve another term….live free or die my #$@

We reported that they posted the video on their website. You need to read the words, my friend.

Your not getting away with this one. Moveon.org did NOT create that ad. It was submitted by a user for a contest and was quickly pulled from their site.
