Could GOP benefit as state resident patterns change?

New Hampshire’s lack of population growth over the last several years, and in particular the last two, may give Republican candidates a better chance in 2010 of recapturing some of the seats they lost in 2008, according to John H. Sununu, chairman of the state Republican Committee.

Sununu, also a former New Hampshire governor, said he doesn’t believe the lack of growth will be the deciding factor, but it may be one of several affecting the state’s political landscape.

U.S. Census figures show New Hampshire’s population growth rate has been dropping each year since 2001.
