Ayotte: Legislature should expand death penalty in wake of Mont Vernon slaying

Republican Senate hopeful and former state Attorney General urged the state legislature to consider expanding the state’s death penalty law to include “atrocious” crimes such as that which occurred in Mont Vernon earlier this month during an appearance on WMUR’s Close-Up on Sunday.
Ayotte personally tried a cop killer while serving as Attorney General and successfully put him on death row.
Democratic Senate candidate Paul Hodes opposes the death penalty.
