Lynch, union on the outs

Diana Richard voted for Gov. John Lynch last year. It was a mistake, she said, that won’t happen again.

“I’m sorry for casting my last vote,” Richard said. “It should have gone to someone who could foresee the future.”

Richard, a secretary at the Department of Health and Human Services, is a member of the State Employees’ Association board of directors and bargaining team. Like many state workers, Richard previously supported Lynch. But that was before a protracted struggle over an SEA contract, before threats by the governor of up to 750 layoffs and before accusations of bad faith were thrown back and forth between the state and the employees.
