Wading into the health care town hall frenzy, Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) has announced he will hold two public forums on the issue in the State this Thursday.
Filling a large hole left by the state’s Democratic delegation, including Representatives Carol Shea-Porter and Paul Hodes who were last seen on a Fox News milk carton, Gregg is the only member of the Granite State’s Congressional Delegation to hold an in person town hall event during the August district work period.
From 9 until 10 a.m. on Thursday Senator Gregg will be at the Salem Senior Center. At 12:15 p.m. he is scheduled to take part in the Portsmouth Rotary’s monthly luncheon at the Red Hook Brewery.
The Senior Center event is open to the public. Resident’s looking to attend the Portsmouth event should contact the Rotary directly
for more information. Both events will be open to the press.
Pleased with the opportunity to host Senator Gregg, Rotary President Jamie DeStefano told the Portsmouth Herald, “It’s an important issue for everyone, not just our members. We have a good diverse group of both Republicans and Democrats, of all age groups. So I’m looking forward to what he has to say[.]”
Since turning down an offer to become Commerce Secretary, and then subsequently announcing he would not seek reelection in 2010, Senator Gregg has been a vocal opponent of the Obama Administration’s spending policies.
A senior member of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, Senator Gregg has brought this message of fiscal discipline to the health care reform debate. According to the Senator’s office, Gregg’s “Coverage, Prevention, and Reform” Proposal would, “address the financial concerns associated with health care on both the individual and national levels, and provide access to critical health insurance for all Americans.”
Thank you Senator Gregg for stepping up to the plate and meeting with your constituents.
