Shea Porter_1 9_16_2007 2_48 PM_0001Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01) is answering her Republican critics who say she is not doing enough to respond to questions and concerns about efforts in Washington, DC to reform America’s health care system.

The New Hampshire Republican State Committee blasted Shea-Porter on Monday for “phoning it in” by holding so-called tele-town hall meetings instead of meeting face-to-face with constituents. Her Republican opponent Frank Guinta has called on her to hold a town hall meeting and has even announced that he will have one to spite her.

“Congresswoman Shea-Porter is hosting a teletown hall that will reach 150,000 New Hampshire households, participating in another teletown hall hosted by the AARP that will be televised, and conducting two hour long radio interviews that have time set aside for constituents to call in and ask questions,” Shea-Porters spokesperson Jamie Radice tells NowHampshire.com.

“The Congresswoman has met with various healthcare stakeholders, including groups that provide healthcare to the uninsured, private practices, and hospitals. The Congresswoman is attending various events and meeting with a number of constituent groups, and also has her annual senior open houses this month,” Radice continued.

Town hall meetings have grown heated across the U.S. with angry constituents sometimes shouting at their elected representatives. Shea-Porter and Rep. Paul Hodes (NH-02) have been urged to hold face-to-face town hall events by both the New Hampshire Union Leader and the Portsmouth Herald.

  1. Mr. Swamp says:

Frank’s plan will back-fire and send his already stale message of “lets keep the status quo” of free markets and insurance company profiteering. I look forward to seeing him and his “industry experts” make fools of themselves. Carol will continue her hard work on this landmark legislation for the people of NH and the US. Carol for Congress 2010!!!!

  2. ECM says:

That’s about as laughable an attempt to ‘church’ up her non-availability to her constituents as I’ve read.
