According to The Hill newspaper, a Capitol Hill publication, Bass is considering running for either his old House seat or the Senate seat of retiring Senator Judd Gregg.

The 2nd district Congressional seat will likely be a open seat with incumbent Democratic Congressman Paul Hodes eyeing the Senate race.

According to Hill sources Rep. Bass is the most likely Republican candidate for the House seat, they write, “He’s the 800-pound gorilla in the room,” one state party insider said of the House race. “If he gets in the race, you have to put him near the top.”

In an interview with The Hill Bass said, “I am considering them both, but I’m not in any hurry. I’ve been in Congress, so for me it’s a question of whether I want to re-enter the world of public service and what contribution I can make in either the House or the Senate.”

Other Republican candidates reportedly interested in the 2nd district race include Fmr. State Senator Chuck Morse, 2008 nominee Jennifer Horn and State Senator Bob Odell.
