Voters in New Hampshire Senate District 3 are still abuzz over candidate Willard “Bud” Martin’s performance during a debate against rival Jeb Bradley last week. Martin seemed disoriented and even barked, “be polite” to citizens who vocally objected to his tax policies.
Several voters we spoke to expressed concern about Martin’s behavior.
“He doesn’t seem right,” one Undeclared voter from North Conway told NowHampshire.com.
“It was a little embarrassing,” admitted one Democrat from Sandwich who asked to remain anonymous for fear of reprisal should Martin win on Tuesday.
During the April 16th candidate debate in Sandwich Martin castigated the New Hampshire Union Leader and the Bradley campaign for using a phrase “This Bud is Not For You,” arguing that it promoted underage drinking and constituted trademark infringement. Martin’s tirade drew howls of laughter from the voters in attendance.
Also during the debate Martin argued that “taxes per se are not a bad thing.” The comment ignited a chorus of boos from the taxpaying audience. “Be polite! Be polite,” Martin barked back at the crowd while wagging his forefinger.
“I see no circumstance under which I would vote for that man,” one district Republican told NowHampshire.com.
Wow. This guy’s out of his tree.
