Analysis Confirms Media Ignoring ‘Tea Parties’

The national mainstream media is refusing to cover the so-called “Taxpayer Tea Parties” because they are unsympathetic to the organizers’ cause and are only interested in covering liberal protests, argues a growing chorus of conservative critics.

Taxpayers: We're not worthy?

Taxpayers: We're not worthy?

The charge is confirmed by an exclusive analysis conducted by NowHampshire.com of the number of cable news stories featuring the Tea Parties during the month of March to date.

Since March 1st, Fox News Channel has mentioned the Tea Party phenomenon twenty-nine times. But that’s essentially the end of the road for event organizers in terms of media attention. CNN has mentioned the Tea Parties only four times and MSNBC only twice.

Numerous Tea Parties across the country have drawn thousands of protesters, angry because of what they see as limitless government growth at taxpayers’ expense passed with little input from the public. Specifically, protesters are concerned about the bank and auto bailouts, President Obama’s home foreclosure plan, the recently-passed stimulus package and the earmark-laden budget, which has been passed by the House of Representatives. Each has come with a price tag between tens of billions and almost one trillion dollars.

New Hampshire taxpayers plan to hold their own Tea Party in Manchester on Tax Day on April 15th.
