Taxpayers to Protest Obama Policies on Tax Day

In part of what is becoming a growing nationwide movement in opposition to trillions of dollars in new spending out of Washington, taxpayers will protest President Barack Obama’s government spending policies in Arms Park in Manchester on April 15th—Tax Day.

The so-called Taxpayer Tea Parties started as small, ad hoc protests but have grown into massive rallies in recent weeks.

A sign of the times

A sign of the times

Taxpayers are objecting to recent bank and auto industry bailouts as well as President Obama’s $800 billion stimulus package. Protesters say these policies are giving government too much control over the economy and are leaving taxpayers with crippling debt to pay down.

The Manchester protest is being organized by veteran anti-tax advocate Mike Biundo and his group the New Hampshire Advantage Coalition, as well as several other interested parties.

“These tea parties are a direct result of a runaway government on all levels. People are frustrated with the spending spree that is going on and they are looking for ways to express themselves,” Biundo told NowHampshire.com.

Though many attendees of the Tea Parties consider themselves Independents, the events have gotten the attention of Republican officials.

The Tea Parties have largely been organized on the Internet and have received little media attention, largely because the mainstream media is thought to be very favorable toward the Obama administration and has thus far avoided questioning his policies.

But as the Tea Party crowds have swelled, it has become harder for the media to ignore them. 15,000 people showed up for a recent rally in Fullerton, CA. Several thousand protested last week in Cincinnati, OH. 4,000 attended a Tea Party in Orlando on Sunday. Biundo did not have any estimates of how many would attend the Manchester Tea Party, but it is likely to draw more than the twelve people who protested at a Seacoast Bank of America recently.

“Up until now, with the exception of the Fox News Channel, the national television media have been largely mum concerning these events. But can they remain so disinterested when there are rallies coast to coast on April 15?” asked Noel Sheppard, the associate editor of the Media Research Center’s NewsBusters.org in an interview with NowHampshire.com.

  1. NH says:

Thousands have been protesting the communist takeover of our country and the redistribution of our tax dollars to Obama’s banker friends who put him in office.

    5,000 strong in Orlando!

We need to END THE FED, END THE IRS and bring the Constitution back to the people.
