Mahoney Signs on to RNC ‘No Bailout’ Resolution

New Hampshire’s Republican National Committeeman Sean Mahoney has signed on as a co-sponsor to a proposed resolution of the Republican National Committee to oppose all bailouts of private industries, NowHampshire.com has learned.

The resolution was drafted by Republican National Vice Chairman James Bopp. He is asking other members of the committee to sign on as co-sponsors. Bopp intends to push the issue at the RNC’s annual winter meeting in late-January.

Every state has three members of the Republican National Committee—the state party chairman, the national committeewoman and the national committeeman.

The resolution is viewed as controversial because the two recent massive bailouts—one for Wall Street and one for Detroit—were shepherded by a sitting, albeit lame duck, Republican president.

The resolution is also viewed as controversial because the Republican National Committee is not generally considered to be a policy making body.

Mahoney has been a vocal opponent of the bailouts telling NowHampshire.com in an exclusive interview, “[t]he Obama administration should declare a moratorium on private-sector bailouts. Congress hasn’t been forthcoming to the American public about the long-term impact these bailouts will have on the nation’s long-term health.”
