New Hampshire law enforcement officials, working alongside federal officials, arrested more than 50 fugitives last week in a statewide sweep. Targeted were people wanted on felony charges including violent offenders, people with narcotics charges, unregistered sex offenders, sexual predators, and others.

The raid was part of Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) that is organized by the U.S. Marshals Service. Operation FALCON has launched several previous national arrest dragnets starting in April of 2005. Local and county police officers across New Hampshire were sworn in as Special Duty U.S. Marshals, allowing the officers to cross their normal day-to-day jurisdictions.

U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier said of the weeklong push, “this operation is another clear indication of how effective the New Hampshire law enforcement can be in combining resources for shared purpose. More than 35 federal, state, county and local agencies participated in clearing 66 felony warrants, and the result is that our state and communities are more secure.”

One of the key suspects was Gerard Joseph Latulippe who was arrested in Hampton. Latulippe, a Costa Rican, has had an international warrant issued for him after being charged in a multi-million dollar investment fraud case.

Also arrested was Michael Mendoza (pictured above), a Florida resident who was charged with being an accomplice to a man who allegedly fired onto a crowded Rochester porch on June 1. He was arrested Friday with three pounds of marijuana as well as smaller amounts of various other drugs. Additionally he was charged with conspiracy commit reckless conduct as well as the possession of controlled narcotic drugs with the intent to distribute.

Agencies that participated in the dragnet included: the Department of State – Diplomatic Security Service; the DEA, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), NH State Police and NH Sex Offender Registry Board Social Security — Office of Inspector General; FBI;, U.S. Probation, and New Hampshire Probation and Parole. All ten of NH’s county sheriffs departments, and the Claremont, Dover, Dunbarton, Enfield, Greenfield, Hooksett, Kingston, Manchester, Nashua, Newbury, Rochester, Salem and Seabrook police departments were involved as well.
