Laconia City Councilor Gregg Knytych, a Republican, announced his candidacy for State Senate in district four today on his blog and on the talk radio program Meet the New Press, co-hosted by this reporter.
“We will continue to have New Hampshire values, core conservative values. People need to know they get to keep their money and that some Democrat isn’t going to spend it,” Knytych said on the air. “The hope is that we will get to keep our New Hampshire Advantage.”
Running on a platform of no broadbased taxes and making state government more accountable, Knytych will take the traditional tax pledge and the newer New Hampshire Advantage Pledge against excessive spending increases.
“I look forward to signing the candidate forms on Wednesday and getting on the campaign trail to meet all of you, my future constituents,” he stated on his blog, The Blogging Councilor.
Knytych says he will keep his seat on the Laconia City Council if he is elected to the state Senate.
The traditionally Republican district four seat is currently held by Democrat Kathy Sgambati.
The district includes Alton, Barnstead, Belmont, Gilford, Gilmanton, Laconia, New Durham, Strafford and Tilton.
